Suzanne “Tootie” Denton Cravens, my mother, passed away March 12, 2025, in Henderson, Kentucky. All of her children were all at her side in her final days.
She is survived by her four children, three grandchildren, a great-grandchild and her baby sister.
Mom is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her oldest sister, who just passed away last year. In fact, her mother died less than nine years ago, just before her 102nd birthday.

This is from one of my mom’s cousins:
I have so many good memories of her. We climbed trees when she came to visit us when we were with Carthon and she showed me what became my favorite sandwich. Roast beef and dill pickle. The first time I saw her at cheerleader tryouts, I thought she was amazing. An absolute fire ball. I was in 8th grade and she was a senior at Barrett High School. She did cartwheels as she came into the gymnasium and yelled ‘are you ready’ and everyone yelled yes. Then she yelled ‘are you really ready’ and the audience even louder said yes. I could tell everyone loved her. She has always been a force to be reckoned with.
In lieu of flowers, I’d prefer you send a donation in her name to St. Anthony’s Hospice in Henderson, Kentucky. Mom was one of the people who helped found this hospice back in the 1980s – I was a teen then, and helped with bulk mailings and a fundraising event. The staff at the Lucy Smith King Care Center were extraordinary to my mother and we will always be grateful for their care.
