It is hard not to feel overwhelmed by all the bad news from around the world right now, a sense of hopelessness at all the cruelty and selfishness. In your community, no matter where you are, there are nonprofits focused on <\/p>\n\n\n\n and on and on and on. And they need you as a volunteer. It won’t fix most of what’s wrong right now. It won’t FIX even a little of it. But you need to find strength in knowing you aren’t alone and to feel a part of a caring community. And this is a great way to do it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Go to your favorite search engine and search for these nonprofits in your own community. Sign up and volunteer for just one half a day, if they have such an opportunity. Or several days. Don’t expect the experience to be perfect. Don’t expect it to restore your soul completely. Just get busy. Do a little good. Try again with another organization if you need to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Engage with your community, doing good, and engaging in activities that directly contradict the efforts of the current Presidential administration, even if they never say that’s what they do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This weekend, I will be joining a small group of like-minded friends doing voluntary conservation work in our local woodland – we aren’t looking to fix the world, just make our little bit of it better.
So, my friends, do what you can to make the world a better place – kindness costs nothing, except perhaps a little time and effort.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
