What did you dislike about your other volunteer experiences?
- The only dislike that I had about my other volunteer experiences was that I was unable
to do more volunteer work, and was unable to acquire transportation. Therefore, I feel
virtual volunteering will help me get around this.
- I volunteered for the Red Cross, but they never did anything and that was annoying.

- I WISH I COULD USE MY INTERESTS AND TALENTS AS A WRITER TO VOLUNTEER IN SOME WAY.
- It wasn't put to a use (so far) commensurate with the time and effort I invested.
- Did not like doing filing at the hospital because I found the job a bit tedious and
boring.
- nothing, how could anyone hate anything that involves children.
- nothing
- It was hard when I had to volunteer when I was really busy.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- NA
- I wished I could have helped more.
- Infrequently, I felt unappreciated sometimes, but that's usually a sign to me that it's
time to move on, elsewhere.
- Nothing
- NOTHING . HONESTLY=) WHEN YOUR DOING SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE IT COMES NATURAL AND
YOU ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. WHAT CAN I SAY I LOVE VOLUNTERRING. I LOVE HELPING MY COMMUNITY. IT BRINGS ME GREAT JOY TO KNOW THAT IF ONLY A LITTLE I'M MAKING A DIFFRENCE.
- Those I couldn't help.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- stupidity on the part of people who I have encountered, conflicting agendas, hypocrisy
and deceit, bad food at fundraisers
- When I look back at all the things I have done I can't think of anything negative
about the experiences. They have all been a positive experience for me because I enjoy my
work.
- None

- Working with well-intentioned but inept people. (At least that
wouldn't happen in this kind of volunteering!!)
- DID NOT ANSWER
- I like working on the internet but I have not volunteered "totally"
via the Internet. I didn't realize it was an option.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- The time it took going back and forth.
- some organisations treat thier volunteers as slaves.
- Sometimes the long standing can get boring. Or they tell you to
show-up and when you do, there may not be much for you to do.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- Volunteers who failed to live up to their offers of help.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- The transportation hassles. This won't be a factor as a virtual
volunteer...hurray!
- DID NOT ANSWER
- I disliked nothing.
- Sometimes being taken for granted.
- Other people's agendas - the reasons why they were volunteering in the
first place.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- I have not had a bad experience volunteering. I know I have been
fortunate that our parent's with the team sports have been supportive. The
other work I did was on my own time, so I didn't have much interaction with
the others involved.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- The lack of clear goals, desired outcomes, mission statements.
- If it is unorganized then I do have problems with that.
- You were outside.
- n/a
- Alot of people were blatantly ungrateful.
- I hated the fact I had to quit the SADD chapter because school work
was starting to get neglected.
- I found the Wellness Center opportunity restrictive and boring--taking
blood pressures with only minimal time to listen to peoples' problems and
offer some advice or recommendations. The others I liked very much. In fact,
they are some of the proudest and most enjoyable moments of my life.
- I disliked some of the politics. More than once we had to deal with
someone who wasn't in the trenches so to speak, but they had the "book
knowledge" of the topic. When they would try to setup things that didn't
work..they didn't always accept the fact that the "volunteers" knew more
than they did. Thankfully it happened rarely.
- its very hard to have to travel half an hour to arrive at the places i
volunteer every week.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- I do not wish to comment.
- I had to stay there for over 8 hours at a time
- like to have had more training
- DID NOT ANSWER
- For some of them, I did not like the fact that the volunteer
opportunites were transitory - I would much prefer to work with a project on
a continuing basis, so that I can see the fruits of my labor (a somewhat
cliched phrase, but quite appropriate, nonetheless)
- DID NOT ANSWER
- I can not think of anything I disliked about my volunteer
experiences.
- N/A
- It has to be all the calls to my house asking me questions, I think
that they can e-mail me.
- Sometimes it is hard to distance myself from the callers on the phone.
I have been in many of their shoes. I feel that virtual volunteering will
enable me to continue my passion without getting wrapped up in someone elses
turmoil.
- no complaints...
- Only thing I did not like was once an activity started early in the
morning, at 6 am, and I did not want to participate.
- Sometimes you really have to keep the big picture on your wall,
literally : ) There's times when no matter what you do, a project may not
turn out to be as effective as you would have liked. That's why its
important for the volunteer to understand the overall goals of the project,
and learn what it takes to be consistent and persistent in the presence of
the various obstacles that any organization will face. To me, this is how
empowerment is learned, and inner strength is nurtured.
- nothing
- I liked everything about volunteering, basically because it made me
feel good about myself. The only thing that I disliked about the
volunteering experiences I had was the headache I'd get from cleaning
shelves in the pharmacy with ammonia.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- There are times when a mentee is not very motivated and I feel like
"wasting time and energy", or when things are totally out of my control and
I feel quite frustrated. However I see all these incidents as tests of my
patience and my persistence in volunteering work, and I don't mind them at
all.
- The hours for candystriping at one of the hospitals began to overtake
my regular schedule. I was in high school and working part-time at the
time, and the hospital wanted a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- There were really no aspects of volunteering for the services that I
disliked. The only drawback now would be that I do not have reliable
transportation.
- The fact that i have enough time and motivation to do more in that
school, but that their requirements are minimal, and no one is really
available to find some time to set some long term goal or projects to make
the most of their computer equipment.
- Sometimes I was just too tired, but I had to still do it or my bosses
were too bossy.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- Nothing.
- I don't recall anything that I disliked about the experiences.
- I dislike volunteer work if its in a field or area that I am not
interested in.
- DID NOT ANSWER
- i have none. all officers are required to step down after their terms
have been served. I am getting older and have no car. The office is far away
and I really feel others should have their chance.. so as to have
continuity.
- Sometimes I'd end up carrying all of the responsibilities on my
shoulders.
- nothing
- Sometimes, people do not appreciate or even hate what I do as
kindness.
- The only one I disliked was with the zoo, and that was when the
animals would go to the bathroom on me while I was handling them.
