Sometimes you need an
aspiring Steven Spielberg to do a sophisticated, theater-quality
movie for your nonprofit, charity or community program, and if
you have the budget for that, go for it!
But for those who don't have
such a budget and whose video production needs aren't quite so
lofty, there's me!
Using video clips that your
volunteers, employees, consultants or clients have taken with their
smart phones, or recordings of your online/remote meetings, or
working with you on your laptop or smart phone to create new
content, I can create simple videos for your nonprofit, NGO, charity
or community group's YouTube channel or for other public outreach
avenues, or for you to show before you speak to a community group.
My video creation services are for simple videos that you would share online, on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, etc., or on a laptop, rather than something you would show on a movie-theater-quality venue.
Such videos can be focused on:
Many of the aforementioned projects, if you
were to provide all of the video clips and wanted something around
five minutes, would come in around $500 for my entire production
budget.
My video production services include:
If you don't already have content for a video you want
created, I can help with both script writing and your verbal or physical
delivery on camera or on audio.
You can use Vimeo, Facebook or any other video-sharing
site to share the final product, and the final product belongs to you to
do with as you like - as in, if you want to later give it to another
person to edit into something different, I am absolutely fine with that
(I won't enforce the copyright as the creator).
Celebration video
of final day of a nonprofit event (2:13)
This is an example of how video taken by various different people, on
different devices, can be spliced together in a simple, fun way to
celebrate an event or program.
les chats noirs
(2:07)
An example of using simple special effects and copyright-free music and
simple smartphone footage to make a short, fun video. If I can make this
from cat-sitting one afternoon imagine what I can do with clips your
volunteers have taken on their smart phone during their service!
Advocating for
Diversity in Volunteer Engagement is NOT Easy (11:46)
With just my laptop, some hats, and a longing for my high
school and university theater days, I made this simple video to
illustrate the resistance nonprofits, charities, community groups and
others will get when they start advocating for diversity and inclusion
in volunteer engagement, with lots of tips on how to prepare for it and
counter it. You
can see all of my trainings on this playlist on YouTube.
Volunteers talk
about what's best about the website they built for a nonprofit
(3:52)
As part of a nonprofit's program where 10 to 30 teams of volunteers
build web sites for 10 to 30 nonprofits, to show off accessibility
features, volunteer teams are invited to talk about their experience on
the day the event ends, either onsite or via a video conferencing call.
This is an example of a less-than-four-minute video that was made from
over 15 minutes of footage. The goal was to have short videos to show
potential participants in subsequent years, so they could understand
what the experience was like.

Nonprofit Kickoff Event (Hybrid) (1:12:35)
A nonprofit holds a kickoff event annually for a particular program that
involves 10 to 30 remote teams and 10 to 30 dispersed nonprofits and
government programs, with some participants overseas. The event is also
broadcast live for an online audience, making it a hybrid event. The
original recordings of this 2018 event were more than two hours long.
The nonprofit wanted to have a recording of the entire event online, but
have "dead air" and long pauses cut out. I was able to cut the event
down to less than half the time of the original broadcast, without
cutting any substantial content. And, yes, that is me also at the event
as the MC at about the 21-minute mark. The purpose of the video is for
archival purposes and to show new employees what this program is like,
as the event tends to have a high-turnover of staff year-to-year.
