Outline of Afghanistan, with the country's flag as a background within the borders of the country

It is unethical to visit Afghanistan as a tourist, and every travel blogger who has gone since the fall of the Taliban, or is planning on going, supports terrorism.

Period.

This is not negotiable, and if you write me and try to say it’s okay, that it’s not harmful, that you are doing it, don’t bother – I’m just going to delete your message and ignore it.

The Taliban LOVE that Western tourists come to Afghanistan: they make sure they have a wonderful time, see the natural beauty of the country, talk only those who say they really love how Afghanistan is now, etc. Those tourists become wonderful propagandists for the Taliban.

I bring this up on r/Afghanistan, a subreddit for the discussion of Afghansitan, regularly. And I’m never going to stop bringing it up. Not until the women in the country are restored to their rightful place in their society.

This person sums up so well why it’s unethical:

This person is right on: if you have a friend who is abusive to his family, who beats and humiliates his wife and children, who doesn’t allow them to leave the house, who keeps them from getting medical care, and you choose to hang out with that friend anyway, you are endorsing the abuse. You are excusing it.

Shame on every tourist that does this.
