Paraguay follow up at last

In May of 2025, I went to Paraguay with other volunteers are part of Habitat for Humanity’s revamped Global Village program. We built the foundation of a house for an all-women family of five wonderful people and learned a sliver about the housing challenges faced by people in Paraguay. I extended my trip a few days to take a bus from Asunción to Iguazu, in Brazil, to visit Iguazu Falls in Argentina.

And it was fascinating to hear a luxury podcaster talk about the voluntourism trip we both were just on – & say things I completely agree with. When I said Habitat for Humanity knows how to do global short-term volunteering with a focus on local people, I meant it.

    […] My trip to Paraguay was mostly wonderful, and was the highlight of the entire year, no question, and I am so grateful to have experienced it and SO grateful to all of you who donated to Habitat for Humanity to make it possible (thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you).
