I’m voting for Joe Biden.

He’s done amazing things as President. He’s been the most progressive President ever, by far – yes, even more than President Obama. Four years ago, he wasn’t my first choice, my second choice, even my third choice, but I have been amazed at his job performance, which has exceeded my expectations – something I have never been able to say about any candidate I have supported, ever. His PROVEN support for a huge variety of social issues, health care, women’s rights and the environment, his push to tax the rich, his performance on the economy – it’s been everything I’ve wanted and more. He is beholden to no one but this country and his values – and I think the next four years, he’ll be even more unabashed in pursuing the agenda I want, and that I bet most of you want too.

Am I still mad about Afghanistan and the lack of support for our allies and how we have put those allies in danger? I’m still FURIOUS about it. So furious that if I ever got to meet Joe Biden, I would bring it up almost immediately. Why should any country partner with the USA knowing what we did to our allies in Afghanistan? I’m still trying to get a friend out of Afghanistan, and now I’m trying to help a young Afghan refugee in Pakistan who is desperate to leave a really horrible situation, but because the US State Department is STILL not properly staffed, they flounder and are in danger – along with many thousands of others. It’s shameful, and although the withdrawal and the takeover by the Taliban is the fault of the 45th President, the lack of support for our Afghan allies is all Biden.

But I’m still voting for him.

Do I think the people voting “non of the above” or “uncommitted” in the primaries to protest the unwavering, unquestioning support by the USA of Israel are doing the right thing? Absolutely. It has sent a STRONG and necessary message, one that is starting to show results. Keep that pressure on. But in November, if you don’t vote at all, or you vote for a third-party candidate, you are handing the White House to someone who will CHEER the deaths of Palestinians.

To be clear: I am beyond disgusted, outraged, appalled and horrified at the October 2023 Hamas act of terror, violence, including sexual violence, and murder, and I am equally disgusted by those that try in any way to justify it, and I also believe that the Jewish state of Israel has a right to exist, but I am also absolutely opposed to the Israeli settlements in the West Bank, I am outraged at the continuing Israeli land grab and the violence regularly perpetuated by Jewish settlers against Palestinian Muslims and Christians who have every right to be on that land, and the bombing of Palestine is in no way an action that protects Israelis nor helps to bring hostages home and it needs to STOP. I don’t believe peace and prosperity are possible in Israel nor Palestine while Hamas is in power NOR while Netanyahu is in power.

Anyway…

I am voting for Joe Biden in November. And if, horror upon horror, he dies before November, I am voting for Kamala Harris. I don’t have the privilege of a protest vote – and neither do you.

Every single horror that I predicted would happen under the 45th President happened save one: I said he would bomb Iran. He didn’t – only because those around him didn’t follow his order to do so. The consequences of that presidency are still being felt, and will for generations: the women denied abortion services, the families that continue to be separated because of deportations, the families with dead loved ones murdered by gun violence, the people terrorized by MAGA supporters, all of the consequences from the insurrection on January 6, and MY UNEMPLOYMENT. You don’t want to know my predictions if he gets into the White House again.

I am voting for Joe Biden. He’s sharper mentally than MOST of the people I know, BTW.
